2.  The Opportunity

Like no other time in its history, Trinity International University (TIU) is poised for growth and increased kingdom impact. The spiritual ethos of the community is strong. TIU is in the center of conservative evangelicalism, remaining true to biblical inerrancy and the centrality of the Gospel. The integration of faith and learning is considered key to equipping students to think Christianly and prepare to be servant-leaders who will impact the world. There is a strong sense among the faculty and staff that they are called to teach and work at TIU.

Trinity International University is a family of more than 2,900 students in four schools:

TIU also hosts The Center for Bioethics & Human Dignity and The Carl F.H. Henry Center for Theological Understanding.

Trinity's main campus is in Deerfield, Illinois, with regional centers in South Chicago, Florida, and Southern California. Trinity Evangelical Divinity School has extension sites throughout the Midwest. With this broad range of excellent programs, TIU stands on the brink of even greater impact on the world and the kingdom of God.

Trinity College

Trinity College enjoys a rich heritage, dating back to 1897. With roots in the Norwegian-Danish Free Church, the Swedish Evangelical Free Church, and the Evangelical Free Church of America, Trinity College has a long-standing, quality reputation within Christ-centered higher education.

As a Christian liberal arts college, a Trinity education is based on academic programs that engage the culture from a Christian perspective, but it is also a total learning experience outside the classroom. At Trinity the whole environment is crucial to each student's success at the university. Faculty and staff are committed to helping students learn in all areas to think and live maturely in and for Christ.

Trinity is known for having strong programs in education, Christian ministries, business, and music, among others. The dual degree BA/MA program in bioethics is truly unique. With more than 800 students, Trinity College is primarily a residential school with an active campus life - including vibrant athletics programs, music, drama, missions, and service activities.

Trinity also serves nearly 500 students through adult degree programs at the Deerfield, South Chicago, and Florida campuses.

Trinity Evangelical Divinity School

Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (TEDS) exists to serve the church of the Living God by equipping servants for the work of the gospel of Christ worldwide. TEDS, one of the largest seminaries in the world, enrolls more than 1,300 graduate students in professional and academic programs, including nearly 300 in its doctoral programs, and more than 225 in extension sites throughout the Midwest.

At the heart of the divinity school is the Master of Divinity degree, preparing pastors, teachers, and missionaries for many kinds of service. TEDS also offers a range of more focused Master of Arts programs in counseling ministries, Christian thought, New Testament, Old Testament, and other disciplines. The school offers the ThM and DMin as well. Three academic PhD programs cover six departments: Educational Studies, Intercultural Studies, and Theological Studies (OT, NT, Systematic Theology, and Historical Theology).

TEDS is a learning community dedicated to the development of servant-leaders for the global church, leaders who are spiritually, biblically, and theologically prepared to engage contemporary culture for the sake of Christ's kingdom. While many TEDS faculty members are widely recognized authors, theologians, and missiologists, they all bring a high level of scholarship and life experience to class, ensuring that their students understand how to apply the material to real-world contexts. They are dedicated to the development of the men and women who will shape the future church worldwide.

Trinity Graduate School

Founded in 1997, Trinity Graduate School equips students with a transformative understanding of their disciplines so that they can engage culture from a biblically based Christian worldview.

With locations on the main Deerfield campus, Florida, and Southern California, Trinity Graduate School serves nearly 200 students with Master's level programs in Bioethics, Communication and Culture, Counseling Psychology, Instructional Leadership, and Teaching.

Trinity Law School

Trinity Law School champions a Christian theory of jurisprudence in the marketplace of ideas and equips students to effectively articulate a biblical view of human law and government for the benefit of Christ's church and the world at large. Graduates include attorneys, scholars, public servants, statesmen and stateswomen, nongovernmental organization leaders, teachers, and other advocates.

Strategically located in Southern California, the full and part-time faculties of the law school reflect Trinity's commitment to faithfulness to the gospel while engaging culture with the gospel's profound and far-reaching implications. Trinity Law School currently serves more than 170 students pursuing a Juris Doctor degree. This 85-unit degree can be taken as a three-year full-time program or as a four-year part-time program. It offers students flexible course schedules, affordable tuition, and most important, the unique opportunity to study law from a Christian perspective. Graduates may sit for the Bar examination of the State Bar of California.

The Center for Bioethics & Human Dignity

The Center for Bioethics & Human Dignity exists to equip opinion leaders to engage the issues of bioethics using the tools of rigorous research, conceptual analysis, charitable critique, leading-edge publication, and effective teaching. It is a national and international leader in producing a wide range of live, recorded, and written resources examining the intersection of biblical values and bioethical issues. The annual bioethics conference, hosted on campus by CBHD, brings together Christian bioethicists, medical doctors, lawyers, philosophers, chaplains, and administrators from throughout the United States. Located on Trinity's Deerfield campus, the long-term positive cultural impact of this unique part of TIU is yet to be seen.

The Carl F. H. Henry Center for Theological Understanding

The Carl F. H. Henry Center for Theological Understanding provides a unique opportunity for ministers, professionals, and academics in various fields to work collaboratively with seminary faculty engaged in biblical and theological reflection. The goal of this partnership is to advance Christian wisdom in all areas of life and thought-to enable people to apply the knowledge of God and themselves gleaned from Scripture in the rough and tumble of life.

The Henry Center seeks to embody the vision of Carl F. H. Henry (1913-2003), a long-time faculty member at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, for Christian thinking that makes a difference in the academy, in churches, and in the secular world. The work of the Center is aimed at promoting gospel-centered thinking and living with others-from a variety of ethnic and social backgrounds-for the glory of God, the good of His church, and the welfare of the world. The Henry Center regularly hosts events on campus that connect scholars and theologians with pastors and missionaries.

These four schools and two centers, though distinct in their educational missions, merge to form TIU, a powerful Kingdom force in equipping students to integrate faith and learning/life with a global impact.

In our culture there is a crying need for people whose daily thoughts and actions stem from a personal piety and well-thought-out biblical worldview, enabling them to influence culture by winsomely articulating their Christian faith. The future of Trinity International University is all about meeting this need. Trinity has an important calling to discern the times, equip future leaders to hold fast to what is good and reject what is evil, and bear witness to Christ's kingdom ways.

TIU alumni serve as leaders around the world in the local church, the academy, intercultural ministry, and nonprofit work, as well as in the marketplace. Among the more notable alumni are Ravi Zacharias, Dr. John Ankerberg, James MacDonald, Dr. Mark Noll, and Dr. Sarah Sumner.
