Doctor of Philosophy Programs Associate Dean for Doctoral Education:
Perry G. Downs, PhD (New York University), served as an instructor and as chairman of the Christian Education Department at Philadelphia College of Bible before coming to Trinity. He was visiting professor at Canadian Theological Seminary in Regina, Saskatchewan, and North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago. He is currently a visiting faculty member of the Singapore Bible College. Eleven churches have benefited from his service as youth worker, youth director, or interim pastor. He is currently a member of First Presbyterian (PCUSA) Church, Libertyville, Illinois. He has written Teaching for Spiritual Growth, as well as chapters in many books about Christian education and youth ministry. He has been the editor of Christian Education Journal since 1997. Purpose of the PhD ProgramsTrinity’s three academic doctoral programs, the Doctor of Philosophy in Theological Studies (PhD/THS), the Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Studies (PhD/EDS), and the Doctor of Philosophy in Intercultural Studies (PhD/ICS), are specifically designed for those who have completed a master’s degree and who wish to pursue advanced study and research in their field of interest.
