Music & Fine Arts
Concert Choir
The Concert Choir is Trinity's premier choral organization. This coed group, which typically stands in a mixed rather than sectional formation, has a repertoire that includes chant, 16th-century polychoral masterpieces, late 20th-century music, spirituals, and contemporary gospel settings. The group, which travels both nationally and internationally, has more than 50 members and welcomes both music and nonmusic majors to participate.
Symphonic Band
Trinity College has a 41-year history of band music. The original pep band that assembled to play at athletic events grew into a concert organization in 1970 and began touring nationally in 1976 and internationally in 1990. Its core repertoire consists of the classics of concert band literature, including original pieces for band and skillful transcriptions and arrangements. The Symphonic Band welcomes both music and nonmusic majors, and many band members take private lessons at Trinity.
Community Philharmonic Orchestra
Do you see yourself playing Mendelssohn or Tchaikovsky alongside seasoned musicians?
Join the 70-member Trinity Community Philharmonic Orchestra and combine your talents with those of local musicians, including music educators from throughout our metropolitan community. The orchestra performs on-campus concerts and accompanies musicals, operettas, and oratorios performed by the School of Music.
Additional Ensembles and Private Lessons
Student musicians also participate in our five-octave Handbell Choir, Jazz Ensemble, and various Chamber Ensembles, as well as in private music instruction from top Chicago professionals such as well-known classical guitarist Norman Ruiz.
Fine Arts
Aspiring actors and singers won't want to miss the chance to develop their talent onstage. Every year, Trinity students perform a play and one musical. Recent performances include, Arthur Miller's The Crucible, Puccini's opera Gianni Schicchi, and Shakespeare's As You Like It. Writers and artists can display their craft at our annual Fine Arts Festival, a contest for student musicians, artists, photographers, and writers. The Trillium-a biannual publication of student poetry, photography, short stories, and essays-also showcases student talent.
